New Park Drive in owner excited for opening weekend

For the first time since it sold this winter, the Park Drive-In theatre will be opening its gates for a double feature this weekend.

“The weather is great, we thought this would be a good time to open,” said Moby Amarsi, the new owner of the theatre.

“It took us about two or three weeks to refresh, we did some painting and some cosmetics… it takes time to fine tune everything,” he said.

A double feature weekend is on the horizon, with the Super Mario Bros Movie and Fast X playing back-to-back on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the long weekend.

Amarsi clarified this is likely a special occasion for the long and opening weekend, and double features are not a “permanent thing.” No double feature decisions have been set in stone yet.

He said people can expect the drive-in to be “opening a lot of new movies” with an emphasis on families.

Park Drive-In will not be the first drive-in theatre on Amarsi’s resume, he said he previously operated one in Duncan – which he had to close down due to small town competition with the traditional theatre.

While opening night is right around the corner, Amarsi says they are still looking for staff, saying the drive-in is a perfect summer job for students who live nearby.

He is accepting resumes at [email protected].

Admission for the weekend will be charged at $25 a vehicle, the gates open at 8:00 and the first movie starts at 9:30.
