PG RCMP catch suspect with loaded firearm

A violent offender who was in possession of a loaded firearm has been arrested by the Prince George RCMP.

Just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, an officer while on patrol along 20th Avenue and Tamarack Street recognized the suspect who had a warrant out for his arrest.

Once the officer approached, the suspect identified as Brandhon Leslie Dargatz initially fled on foot but was caught moments later.

During a search, officers found a located firearm in his backpack.

Dargatz is currently under a lifetime firearms ban.

The BC Prosecution Service approved several charges including the following:

  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized

Dargatz will remain in custody until his next court date.

The file remains under investigation.
