According to a Facebook post, Jim Good has funnelled 100% of his life savings into the maintenance of Goodsir Nature Park since the pandemic started.
The same post said Good collapsed while on one of his trails and would have passed away if he was not immediately taken to the hospital.
Doctors suspect the stress associated with the financial strain he is going through could be a primary reason why.
The Facebook post also said Good does not have enough money to fuel his truck, or even for a Wendy’s hamburger – which he was treated to during his stay in the hospital, his only request.
A GoFundMe has been started to support both Good and the park through this time, with $10,000 raised so far.
“I am extremely happy, it is amazing what the people of Prince George have pulled together to help Jim out,” Rob Romeyn, a friend of Good’s, told My PG Now.
“Jim gives a lot back to the community through his park, educating people, and all he does. To see people give back to him has been amazing… it blows me away.”
Romeyn added he spoke with Good about the support he has received from the community, and that he was “pretty much to the point of tears,” seeing the money that has been raised so far.
“Jim still really needs, number one, is visitors,” Romeyn said. “Without the visitors, the park has trouble existing… they can leave donations, that just means the world to him. It is his lifelong passion.”
“Second, he does need volunteers to help out. In his condition, he really can’t do that much on his own without serious risk to himself for pretty much the entire summer.”
