Baking and Pastry Arts class approved for PGSS students

Life at PGSS will be a little sweeter next year.

A pitch for “Baking and Pastry Arts” classes for 11th and 12th graders was unanimously approved by the School Board at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The course synopsis is: “a course that focuses on developing skills and techniques specifically in baking. This course will be valuable for any student who wants to learn and develop foundational skills in baking and pastry. The foundational skills learned in this course are transferable to other senior foods courses and used in real life.”

“The teacher that is teaching these courses, she described it as ‘the dream of her life’ to teach these courses,” Trustee Bob Thompson told the board. “Those kids are going to get a wonderful education, and they can make a darn good living being a red seal pastry chef anywhere across this country.”

The course will be available for PGSS students to enroll in for the fall semester.
