The BX Pub Bandits have advanced to the Prince George Senior Lacrosse playoff final. In the closet game of the playoffs, the Bandits outscored the Quesnel Crossfire 11-8 to win the best of 5 semi-final series 3-0. BX Pub won the first two games by scores of 14-2 and 11-3. Jake McIntosh led the Bandits with four goals and three assists.
–The Westwood Pub Devils look for a sweep against the Northland/Nissan Assault in PG Senior Lacrosse. The Devils lead the best of 5 semi-final 2-0 with game 3 tonight (Thursday) at 8 at Kin 1. The Devils have outscored the Assault 32-2 in the series. They are riding a 38 game win streak dating back to last year.
–The Provincial Youth Soccer championships kick off today and continue until Sunday. Five Prince George teams are competing: The U14 B Girls in Nelson, the U14 B Boys in 100 Mile House, the U16 B Boys and Girls in Penticton and the U18 A Girls in Surrey.
–The Pan Am Games opening ceremonies will be held Friday in Toronto. Competition runs until July 26th. Prince George has three athletes competing: boxer Kenny Lally, high jumper Alyx Treasure and pitcher/first baseman Amanda Asay who plays on the Canadian women’s baseball team. A total of 41 countries are represented.
