Could Prince George set a new temperature record two days in a row?

The chance a second-consecutive temperature record could fall in Prince George will be a little tougher today.

The current standing mark for June 9th is 31.1 degrees set back in 1969 – today’s (Friday) high is only expected to be 30.

Yesterday (Thursday), the northern capital reached 32 degrees, smashing a 54-year-old temperature record, surpassing the old mark of 30, set back in 1969.

Environment Canada Meteorologist, Lisa Ervin told MyPGNow.com there are certain factors not working in our favour.

“With today’s cloud cover that might work against us on being able to creep past that tipping point and get that next temperature record.”

Ervin added that even if a new temperature record is not reached, above-seasonal conditions will resume at the end of the weekend.

“We get those hot temperatures coming through and then we get a brief break where we get one brief system causes that ridge of high-pressure to move off and in doing so, we get the brief relief of temperatures for a day or two.”

A chance of showers and a high of 20 degrees is expected for tomorrow (Saturday).

For Sunday and Monday, a return of sunny skies is anticipated with highs of 26 and 29 degrees.
