Sudden death in PG “is” considered suspicious: RCMP

Updated: 3:23 p.m., Monday, June 12th:

Police in Prince George are investigating what they believe is a suspicious death near the 2000 block of First Avenue.

RCMP were called to the area at around 2:00 Friday afternoon, on a report of a body located inside a tent in the area.

“The body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition, having been exposed to the elements for a number of days,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“Due to these circumstances, the Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation while we wait for the findings of the BC Coroner Service, which is conducting a parallel investigation.

The death is being treated as suspicious while officers investigate, however police do not believe there is any increased risk to public safety.

Earlier this morning (Monday), Cooper told Vista Radio that the death was not considered suspicious, which she said was a miscommunication on her part.
