Improvements are coming to the newly launched Public Alerting System used by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and the City of Prince George
It was tested for the first time yesterday at 9 am.
Residents who have subscribed to this system successfully received the test message by text and email, but the voice call message was
distorted.
According to the Regional District, this was an isolated incident, and the RDFFG will work closely with its service provider
to identify and rectify the problem.
In addition, there were no issues with any of the messages sent by the City of Prince George.
The alerting system is used in emergencies like severe weather, floods or wildfires and all registered contacts in the affected area will receive texts, voice calls or emails with public safety notifications and evacuation alerts and orders.
It is free for all citizens in both areas. Citizens can enter their name, email address, phone numbers, and identify which zones they wish to receive alerts for.
