Regional District announces work fund projects, community grants

Three projects were approved by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George for 2023 funding including Azu Community Water System infrastructure
replacement, Dome Creek Recreational Facility upgrades and Official Community Plan review and implementation.

Last year, the RDFFG invested over $10 million from the Community Works Fund to support sixty-seven projects.

This included energy efficient upgrades to buildings and facilities throughout the region like improvements at the Cummings Road and Mackenzie Regional Transfer Stations, improvements to water and wastewater systems in McBride, Bear Lake and Summit Lake.

In addition, fifteen community projects received a total of $48,103 in funding support through the Fraser Fort George Endowment
Fund Grants.
They have been established for five Regional District Electoral Areas (Salmon River-Lakes, Chilako River-Nechako, Hixon-Woodpecker, Willow River-Upper Fraser and Crooked River-Parsnip)

The organizations receiving support from these funds include:

• Northwest 4-H Club
• Miworth Community Association
• Mud River Beaverly Farmers Institute
• Norman Lake Community Association
• Hixon Community Association
• Hixon Volunteer fire Department Society
• Hixon Hill Riders
• Shell Glen Improvement Society
• Sinclair Mills Education & Recreation Club
• Bear Lake Recreation Association
• Summit Lake Community Association

Lastly, the board also green lit the following Community Grants:

• $6175 to the Nukko Lake Recreation Commission for insurance, volunteer appreciation and a Food Safe
course
• $6000 to the Fraser Basin Council for Nechako Watershed program administration
• $2000 to the Beaverly Community Association for swim program and park maintenance expenses
• $2000 to the Mud River Beaverly Farmers Institute for the Community West Market
• $6000 to the Tabor Lake Recreation Commission for security lighting, programs, maintenance and
insurance expenses
• $2000 to the Buckhorn Recreation Commission for Buckhorn School sports day and field trip bussing
$2500 to the McLeod Lake Indian Band for Indigenous Days
• $2500 to the Robson Valley Music Festival for First Aid supplies
• $1626 to the Valemount Junior Canadian Rangers Adult Committee Society for insurance
