PG’s Downtown Summerfest to be divided into two Saturday celebrations

“We are excited to bring back most of what people remember.”

That’s from Downtown PG Executive Director Colleen Van Mook who is excited to bring back a pair of Downtown Summerfest Saturdays to Veterans Plaza at City Hall.

On July 15th there will be an outdoor food court with vendors and entertainment while on the 22nd more kid and family activities are planned.

Van Mook told MyPGNow.com that’s not all that will be happening during those days.

“We want to remind people that every Saturday we have three markets in downtown Prince George. We have the Wilson Square Community Market, we have the PG Farmers’ Market and we have the Q3 Market and those are all on 3rd Avenue.”

“We are excited to be able to invite people downtown not only to enjoy the event but by hosting on Saturdays we are hoping we are able to get a sense of how active and vibrant our downtown is.”

The only main difference residents will notice is the food tickets people bought in advance to purchase food in previous years will not be available, instead, they are asked to bring cash and other forms of payment to support their favourite food vendors.

“What we are doing is working with established food vendors – there will have various food trucks and so, it will be up to those vendors to collect the money for their food. That is a good point as we will encourage people to bring their money downtown so they can purchase food and fill their bellies.”

Organizations like the YMCA of Northern BC, the Prince George Public Library, and the Railway and Forestry Museum will be in attendance for the second (22nd) Summerfest Saturday.
