The Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club have entered into a new partnership agreement.
The agreement was signed this morning (Wednesday) on National Indigenous Peoples Day.
“The past few years we’ve been with the Nordic [Ski Club], they have ensured the Lheidli T’enneh have been involved in every major event that happens at Otway,” said Lheidli T’enneh Chief Dolleen Logan.
“We proudly, they proudly, we all proudly have our flag out there. Every time we’re always extremely welcomed out there.”
“This started as kind of a grassroots discussion,” added Caledonia Nordic Ski Club President Lance MacDonald.
“We have a tremendous working relationship with the Lheidli T’enneh, [they’ve] helped us welcome people from around the world to our club, to our community, to [their] nation, and it’s been something we’ve wanted to build on.”
Through the partnership, the Ski Club will host an annual ‘Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Day’ at the Otway Ski Centre.
A date for the event hasn’t been set yet, as MacDonald said they have to work around major events this winter.
This is the third partnership the Lheidli T’enneh has entered into in the past year.
In June 2022, they partnered with the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, followed by the Prince George Airport Authority in February this year.
