Huble Homestead hosting annual Canada Day celebrations

If you’d like to celebrate Canada Day the old-fashioned way, Huble Homestead has an option for you.

The historic site will be holding their annual Canada Day festivities, with plenty of opportunities for food.

“We will start off with a pancake breakfast at 10:00, and we’ll have birthday cake on at two different times,” said Nicole Krizmanich, Program Manager for Huble Homestead.

“We’ll have ice cream making, butter making, and cheese making demonstrations, so we’ve got Tracy from Cheeseneeds.com, she’s our resident cheese expert.”

There will also be corn on the cob and watermelon eating contests.

Krizmanich added there will be a pole lathe demonstration and live music.

“A lot of the things we do are sort of traditional repeats, favourites,” she said.

“One thing we do have launching that’s new to the event this year is an exhibit called ‘Homestead on Native Land.’ It talks about the Lheidli history in the Prince George area as well as Huble Homestead.”

Admission to the Canada Day festivities at the Homestead will be free.
