Big turnout for capsule opening

The library was packed tight as the young and old took a glimpse into the city’s past.

While a styrofoam Big Mac container and Cabbage Patch Kid garnered laughs, a mother’s letter to her children, and a guestbook containing thousands of messages and signatures had the crowd under a spell.

Countless photographs featured familiar faces, and some spectacular 90’s style.

The items will be on display at the library for the rest of the week, before they are buried for another 50 years.

The city is also putting together a second time capsule to be opened in 2115.

A set of Canada Winter Games Medals will be included, but the city wants some public input.

Residents are asked to share their stories about Prince George’s past, present, and future in hopes of their essay being included in the time capsule.
