The 10th annual Cougars Alumni Charity Golf Tournament is kicking off at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club today (Saturday).
The tournament raises money for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, over the decade span of the tournament, $650,000 have been raised.
According to Aimee Cassie, the CEO of Spirit of the North, this year “is on track to set another record, which is absolutely incredible.”
“I can say we will definitely surpass the $100,000 mark this year… we are really thrilled with what has been accomplished so far, and we are really excited for a great day on the course!”
The pre-tournament banquet was held in the CN Centre last night, which featured a silent auction and a live auction of Cougar Alumni, where teams could purchase a former player to golf with during the tournament.
There will be another live auction and dinner following the tournament tonight, and a chance to win a year lease on a Jeep from Northland Dodge, the event’s title sponsor.
“It is a 75-yard shot, closest to the pin for six of our event participants, they all take that shot – closest to the pin takes home the Jeep for the year, which is incredible.”
Spirit of the North puts all the money raised towards cardiac care in the north, all the funds raised will stay in the region.
