Crews working to build guards around Tsah Creek and Finger Lake fires

There’s a pair of new wildfires of note in the VanJam Fire Zone.

The Greer Creek Wildfire, about 30 kilometres northwest of the Finger Lake Wildfire, was discovered on Monday and has since grown to 1,804 hectares.

Additionally, the Nithi Mountain Wildfire, about 10 kilometres south of Highway 16 near Fraser Lake has grown to 238 hectares.

The Tsah Creek Wildfire has grown to 501 hectares.

Crews are working to construct a guard to limit spread to the north and the south.

The BC Wildfire Service said crews were working today with heavy equipment to reinforce a guard, and carrying out direct attack in areas where possible to increase containment, and limit fire growth towards Highway 27.

The Finger Lake wildfire remains at around 270 hectares in size.

Today (Wednesday), crews and equipment continued to work towards building a guard around the fire to limit spread beyond containment lines.
