CFL:

Hamilton Tiger-Cats  37  Edmonton Elks  29

The Elks suffered their 20th consecutive home loss to tie the longest home losing streak in North America’s four major professional leagues.

The St. Louis Browns in Major League Baseball lost 20 straight in 1953 before becoming the Baltimore Orioles the next season.

The Elks have also lost 10 straight games overall and 0-6 this year, their worst start in franchise history.

In the CFL tonight (Friday 4:30 PT): (3-0) Toronto at (2-2) Montreal.

There are a pair of Saturday games: Winnipeg at Ottawa (1 PM) followed by Calgary at Saskatchewan (4:00).

The (4-1) BC Lions return to action on Saturday, July 22nd when they host Saskatchewan.

Major League Baseball:

The (50-41) Toronto Blue Jays resume action tonight (Friday (4:07 PM PT) when they host the (52-39) Arizona Diamondbacks to begin a 6-game homestand.

The Jays are 3rd in the A.L. East and also tied with Houston for the second A.L. wild-card spot, a game ahead of the NY Yankees and two in front of the Boston Red Sox.

The (42-47) Chicago Cubs host the (48-43) Boston Red Sox this evening (5:05 PT).

First baseman Jared Young of Prince George has played 10 games with Chicago since his call-up from the Iowa Cubs.

Young, who just turned 28, is batting .200 (6-for-30) in a Chicago uniform with one homer and five RBIs.

Prince George Senior Lacrosse:

BHL Bandits  10  Scamp Transport Devils 6

The Bandits lead the series 2-1 with Game 4 Monday night at 8:00 at Kin 1.

 

Hockey:

The Wenatchee Wild of the WHL hired Kevin Constantine to be their new head coach.

The former NHL and Everett Silvertips head coach spent the last two seasons as the bench boss for a professional team in Hungary.

Constantine has nearly 40 years of coaching experience.

The Prince George Spruce Kings will play five pre-season games all on the road.

They will start September 8th in Chilliwack against the Chiefs and conclude September 16th in Trail against Powell River.
