Commonwealth Cup supporting Hospice at Home

The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society is hoping to raise $100,000 for their Hospice at Home program today.

Hospice is hosting the Commonwealth Cup Golf Tournament at Aberdeen Glen Golf Course, with all funds raised going towards the program.

“This will help us continue on with the program, and what this program really does is allow people that want to die at home the ability to die at home,” said Hospice Executive Director Donna Flood.

“The same care and compassion we give at the Rotary Hospice House, we’re now able to provide in people’s homes.”

Vancouver Canucks Alumni Dennis Kearns, Eddie Hatoum, Gary Monahan, Richard Brodeur, and Ron Petrovicky, who is also a PG Cougars alumnus, are attending the tournament.

Yesterday (Monday), Mayor Simon Yu proclaimed July 17th and 18th, 2023 as Vancouver Canucks Day in the Northern Capital.

“What it does is it really demonstrates the support the community gives to hospice,” Flood said.

“Hospice really wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the community and their generosity. The fact that right to the Mayor’s office, they realize how important it is, and also how generous the Canucks are on coming up and actually supporting our hospice.”
