This is the first day of the FIFA Women’s World Cup which is taking place in both Australia and New Zealand.

First baseman Jared Young of Prince George did not play in the Chicago Cubs’ 8-3 Wednesday night victory over the Washington Nationals.

The 28-year-old Young is batting .171 (6-for-35) in 13 games in a Chicago uniform with one homer and five RBIs.

The (45-50) Cubs host the (43-53) St. Louis Cardinals tonight (5:05 PT).
