Avid bike riders from across the north will embark on their biggest test to date.
The inaugural PG 2-Day Enduro Mountain biking event is set for Saturday and Sunday.
Riders, ranging from various ages and skill levels will participate in a multi-stage race at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, Pidherny Recreation Site, and Tabor Mountain Recreation Area.
Tourism PG CEO, Colin Carson told MyPGNow.com the activity has seen a surge in growth in our region since the pandemic.
“I think what we are really seeing is people during the pandemic were really looking for things they could do to stay active and mountain biking was one of those activities that really exploded. We are seeing that continue now and it’s a huge opportunity within the tourism industry.”
Carson added there is a golden opportunity here for this to become a yearly summer tradition.
“The opportunity for this to grow into an annual event that is a pretty big tourism driver is pretty high. Mountain biking is becoming so popular and I think an event like this is pretty unique. I think people from all over would travel to Prince George to take part in this.”
“We work with a lot of communities across Northern BC to promote mountain bike travel together from Valemount all the way to the east and the west coast. Places like Valemount, Burns Lake, Smithers, and Terrace are really good mountain biking communities and destinations.”
The event is being hosted by the PG Cycling Club.
Registration is $50 and can be completed online.
