Nation Lakes wildfire area restrictions lifted

Area restrictions around two wildfires in the Nation Lakes area, south of the Omineca Provincial Park, are being rescinded at noon today (Saturday).

People will be able to return to the areas surrounding the Klawli Lake wildfire and the Porcupine Mountain wildfire after rain has helped reduce fire activity in the area.

The BC Wildfire Service is warning people that while restrictions are being lifted, the fires are still burning and anyone can be ordered out of the area again on short notice.

They are also warning of some dangers of entering an area that was recently impacted by wildfires, including falling trees and ash pits that may still be live.

There are currently 40 fires burning in the Prince George fire Centre, 8 of which are of note.
