The Prince George Kodiaks will start their season with an 0-1 record following a 32-0 loss to the Okanagan Sun last night. (Saturday)
The Kodiaks’ defense held the defending Canadian Bowl champions to only one touchdown and two field goals in the first half.
“We struggled on stopping the run, especially in the first half, and we had trouble getting off on second and long,” said Kodiaks Head Coach Jamie Boreham.
“We found some opportunities that we were playing into, and it was good, we just didn’t make some plays.”
The Kodiaks stopped two consecutive Sun drives in the first half with turnovers, but failed to capitalize on offense.
“Offensively we struggled with timing, penalties consistency, we’ve got some work to do,” Boreham said.
As the teams headed to the locker room for half time, rain started to fall on Masich Place Stadium and would last right up until the end of the game.
The Sun added another field goal and two more touchdowns in the second half, plus a conceded Kodiaks safety.

“I’m happy with our effort,” Boreham said.
“We got some work to do. They’re a good team, they’re defending national champions for a reason, we’ve got some work to do and we’re going to see them again.”
The Kodiaks will have next weekend off, before returning to action at Masich Place Stadium on August 12th when the Westshore Rebels come to town.
