Police incident on Upland Street ends with one arrest

Updated 3:36, Monday, July 31st:

Police say the incident has ended with one person being arrested.

The roads in the surrounding area have been reopened, and residents displaced during the incident will soon be allowed to return to their homes.

Mounties say no further updates will be given.

Original Story:

The Prince George RCMP is on the 2000 block of Upland Street, managing an ongoing and dynamic police incident in the area.

“At around 11:20 this morning (Monday), police officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in that neighbourhood,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“In addition to our police officers, the Emergency Response Team is now on scene and assisting with the incident. We request the public stay out of the area in order to give emergency units room to conduct their work safely.”

Police have closed Highway 16 between Highway 97 and Upland Street, and Upland Street at 20th Avenue to Carney Street.

Police say residents in the surrounding units have been evacuated to a safe place out of an abundance of caution.

Mounties say it’s unknown how long they will be on scene, and updates may be provided as they become available.
