Meals on Wheels program put on pause

The Prince George Council of Seniors has announced the Meals on Wheels (MOW) program will not be operating until further notice.

In a release posted to their Facebook page, the council cited “a sudden increase in program costs as well as a temporary staff shortage” as why the program is on hiatus.

They are asking all clients to lean more on family and friends for support while they work to bring MOW back online.

“Every Prince George Council of Seniors MOW client has been contacted and we are working very hard to find accommodations to support our MOW clients who are most in need,” the release states.

They said they are on the hunt for an industrial-sized kitchen that could assist the program and are hoping the shutdown only spans the month of August.
