Major League Baseball:

Cleveland Guardians  1  Toronto Blue Jays  0

The (64-51) Jays are 4-1 on a 7-game road trip that continues tonight (Wednesday 4:10 PT) in Cleveland against the (55-59) Guardians.

Fastball:

The Prince George River Kings returned home with the silver medal in the senior men’s division at the Canadian Native Fastball Championships in Calgary.

The River Kings lost the all-BC final to STK.

Soccer: 

The quarterfinals are set at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

First up will be Spain against the Netherlands Thursday night (6:00 PT).

The other matchups have Japan against Sweden (Friday at 12:30 AM PT), France vs. Australia Saturday (12:01 AM PT) and Colombia against England Saturday (3:30 AM PT).

Hockey:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will play two games at the BCHL’s Showcase in Seattle.

They face the Powell River Kings on October 25th and the Nanaimo Clippers the next day (on the 26th).

In total, the 17 league teams play a couple of games each between October 22nd and 26th at the Kraken Community Iceplex, the Seattle Kraken’s practice facility.

The Spruce Kings open their regular season on the road against the Silverbacks in Salmon Arm on Saturday, September 23rd.

 

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed goalie Martin Jones to a one-year contract worth $875,000.

The 33-year-old Jones spent last season with the Seattle Kraken posting a 27-13-3 record with a .917 save percentage and a 2.36 goals-against average.

 

Football:

The Prince George Kodiaks junior football team will play its second game in the
BCFC regular season on Saturday.

The (0-1) Kodiaks host the (2-0) Westshore Rebels at 4:00 at Masich Place Stadium.

Prince George lost 32-0 to the Okanagan Sun in the first of its 10 games this year.

 

CFL:

Week 10 of the CFL season begins Thursday (6 PM PT) with (6-2) Winnipeg at (0-8) Edmonton.

The Elks have lost a North American major sports leagues record 21 consecutive home games, dating back nearly four years (Oct 12th, 2019).

The Blue Bombers are tied with the BC Lions for the top spot in the West.

The (6-2) Lions host the (3-5) Calgary Stampeders Saturday (4:00 PT).
