Soccer: 

FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand

(Semifinals)

Spain  2  Sweden  1  (Today (Tuesday) in Auckland, New Zealand

Australia  vs  England  (3 AM PT Wednesday)  in Sydney, Australia

Spain will play for gold Sunday (3 AM PT in Sydney) against the Australia-England winner while Sweden will play for bronze Saturday (1 AM PT in Brisbane, Australia) against the Australia-England loser.

Major League Baseball:

The (66-54) Toronto Blue Jays host the (65-54) Philadelphia Phillies in a two-game series; tonight (Tuesday 4:07 PT) and Wednesday (4:07 PT).

The Jays hold down the third and final wildcard spot in the A.L., two games ahead of the
(63-55) Seattle Mariners.  The Mariners lost 7-6 to Kansas City Monday night.

CFL:

The (7-2) B.C. Lions are tied with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the top spot in the West Division with each team halfway thru their 18-game regular season schedule.

The Lions play their next game on Sunday (4 PM PT) against the (4-5) Roughriders in Saskatchewan.

Winnipeg will play at (3-6) Calgary Friday night (6:00 PT).

Week 11 of the CFL season begins Thursday (4:30 PT) with (0-9) Edmonton at (3-5) Hamilton.

Junior Football:

The (0-2) Prince George Kodiaks junior football team is back in action Saturday night at 7:00 at Masich Place Stadium when they host the (0-2) Kamloops Broncos.

The Kodiaks are coming off a 49-10 loss to the (3-0) Westshore Rebels.

Hockey:

Former Prince George Cougars forward Fischer O’Brien has joined the Alberni Valley Bulldogs for his final season of junior hockey.

After 15 full NHL seasons sniper David Krejci of the Boston Bruins has announced his retirement at age 37.

Last month, another Bruins centre, 38-year-old Patrice Bergeron announced his retirement.
