Local product Caden Brown traded to Everett by Cougars

The Prince George Cougars have made their first trade of the 2023-24 season.

Local product Caden Brown is headed south of the border to the Everett Silvertips in exchange for 19-year-old forward Oren Shtrom, a 2024 second-round pick in the WHL Prospects Draft, and a 2026 fifth-round pick.

Shtrom split time between the Silvertips and the Medicine Hat Tigers last season, earning two goals and nine points in 24 games.

Brown, 18, played 66 games for the Cougars, posting 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points, as well as 7 points in 10 playoff games.

After the departures of Fischer O’Brien (now with the BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs) and now Brown, the Cougars no longer have any local talent on their roster.

Cougars fans can see Shtrom in action on September 22nd during the team’s home and season opener against the Tri-City Americans.

Everett will be in Prince George on November 27th and 28th.
