A Prince George RCMP officer was treated and released at UHNBC after sustaining injuries during a hit and run involving a pedestrian.

Just before 11pm last night (Tuesday), officers responded to the 2200 block of Upland Street.
Once on scene, the suspect’s vehicle accelerated towards one of the Mounties and a witness with both avoiding contact.
From there, the officer attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 16 and 97 when the suspect swerved into the police cruiser forcing it to hit a light standard, causing extensive damage.
The suspect rolled its vehicle which came to a stop on its roof.
According to police, the suspect was not injured but is facing numerous charges including impaired driving and has since been released with a later court date.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the local detachment.
