NFL: (Final two games in Week 2)

Pittsburgh Steelers  26  Cleveland Browns  22

Cleveland All-Pro running back Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury. Both the Steelers and the Browns are 1-1.

New Orleans Saints  20  Carolina Panthers  17

The Saints are one of nine teams at 2-0 along with Miami, Baltimore, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Atlanta.

The Panthers are one of nine teams at 0-2 along with New England, Cincinnati, Houston, LA Chargers, Denver, Minnesota, Chicago and Arizona.

CFL: (Week 16)

The (9-4) B.C. Lions visit the (4-10) Edmonton Elks Friday night (6:30 PT).

The Lions are 2nd in the West Division, two points behind the (10-4) Winnipeg Blue Bombers with a game in hand.

The Blue Bombers are idle this week.

BC Football Conference (BCFC)

The (2-4) Prince George Kodiaks junior football team has just four games remaining in their second BCFC season.

The Kodiaks visit the (4-2) Valley Huskers Saturday afternoon in Chilliwack.

Major League Baseball:

The Toronto Blue Jays have a dozen games left, six on the road this week (against the Yankees and Tampa) and six at home next week (against the Yankees and Tampa).

The (83-67) Jays visit the (76-74) New York Yankees tonight (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday (4:05 PM PT each night).

Toronto holds down the second wild-card spot in the American League, one game ahead of both the (82-68) Texas Rangers and the (82-68) Seattle Mariners.

On Monday, Seattle blanked Oakland 5-0 and Texas lost to Boston 4-2.

Golf:

Prince George edged host Quesnel 65 to 64 to capture the Ryder Cup golf tournament.

Quesnel won last year and in 2019.

The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID.

 

WHL

After going 2-2 in the pre-season, the Prince George Cougars start their regular season with a home doubleheader against the Tri-City Americans on Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

The Cougars will play seven of their first nine and nine of their first 12 games on home ice.

The Prince George Spruce Kings will start their regular season on the road Saturday (6 PM on Sept 23) against the Silverbacks in Salmon Arm.

Their home opener will be played Sept 29th against Chilliwack.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves are home this weekend in Canada West Soccer.

The (1-5-1) UNBC men host the (4-0-1) Alberta Golden Bears Friday at noon and the (2-2-3) Lethbridge Pronghorns Sunday at noon at Masich Place Stadium.
