Drugs, cash seized by Prince George RCMP in two separate investigations

The Prince George RCMP seized 200 grams of illicit drugs and a large quantity of cash during two separate investigations in the past week.

On Saturday, Mounties were investigating a break-an-enter into a fenced compound on the 600 block of Third Avenue.

Police say three people were located inside the compound and detained.

During the investigation, officers seized more than $700 in cash, a combined total of more than 50 grams of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, and a prohibited firearm that was located abandoned nearby.

All three suspects were released pending further investigation.

Just before 9:00 a.m. yesterday (Monday), a frontline officer on routine patrol located a vehicle travelling well above the posted speed limit heading southbound on Highway 97N by the scales.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and observed drug paraphernalia near the driver.

More than $350 in cash, a combined total of more than 150 grams of suspected crack cocaine, packaged cocaine and cannabis, as well as a large amount of suspected Xanax pills were seized from inside the vehicle.

The driver was released at the scene.

“Many different investigations can bring police officers into contact with those involved in the illicit drug trade,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“The Prince George RCMP is committed to disrupting the drug trade within our City as we know it is associated with other, often more violent crimes.”
