PG’s Jared Young gets a hit after being recalled by the Chicago Cubs

Updated at 11 PM Tuesday

Jared Young of Prince George is back in the Big Leagues after the Chicago Cubs recalled the 28-year-old infielder from their Triple-A affiliate Iowa Cubs.

This comes after Chicago infielder Nick Madrigal was placed on the 10-day IL for a right hamstring strain.

This is Young’s second stint in the big leagues this season after being called up to the Cubs in June.

In his first at-bat with Chicago this season, he hit a solo home run.

The rest of this 13-game run was much less fruitful, as Young batted .171 (6 of 35).

Tuesday night in the Cubs 14-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Young came off the bench and smashed an RBI triple to go 1-for-1 at the plate.

The (79-72) Cubs are holding onto the last wildcard spot in the National League, 1/2 a game behind Arizona and 1/2 a game ahead of Miami.
