Spruce Kings add alumni Manning to coaching staff

The Prince George Spruce Kings have added NHL experience to their coaching staff with a local product.

Brandon Manning will join the Spruce Kings as their Skills and Development Coach.

“Brandon is a proud Prince George resident and a proud Spruce Kings alumni,” said General Manager Mike Hawes.

“Any time we can add someone to the organization with Brandon’s experience and character we are going to jump at it.”

Manning played 58 games with the Spruce Kings during the 2007-2008 season, scoring seven goals and 19 assists.

He also played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks and the Edmonton Oilers, appearing in a total of 255 NHL games.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Spruce Kings organization again,” Manning said.

“They gave me a chance as a 17-year-old player in my first year of junior hockey. Now I can use the last 15 years of my hockey journey to help guide and teach players on what it takes to get to the next level.”

The Spruce Kings will open the season on the road against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, the team that swept them in the 2023 BCHL playoffs.
