Prince George Cougars  9  Tri-City Americans  0

Zac Funk and Viliam Kmec each scored hat tricks in the win.

Terik Parascak scored two, while Ondrej Becher scored one.

The Cougars and the Americans will go at it again tonight at the CN Centre. (6:00)

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will kick off their regular season against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in Salmon Arm tonight. (6:00)

The Silverbacks swept the Spruce Kings in the first round of last year’s BCHL Playoffs.

The Spruce Kings finished 5th in the BCHL’s Interior Division last season with a record of 27-20-6-1.

Canadian Junior Football League:

The Prince George Kodiaks (2-4) will play the Valley Huskers (4-2) in Chilliwack this afternoon. (2:00)

This will be the first meeting of the two teams this season.

Prince George’s Jared Young went 1-for-3, knocking a two-run homer in the 6th.

The Cubs (80-74) are sitting in the final wildcard spot in the National League, and are a half-game ahead of the Miami Marlins (79-74), and one game behind the Arizona Diamondbacks (81-73).

The Blue Jays (86-68) are holding onto the second wildcard spot in the American League.

The Jays are one game ahead of the Texas Rangers (84-68).
