Prince George Cougars goaltender Ty Young has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
The 19-year-old Young was selected by Vancouver in the fifth round, 144th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Young has been returned to the Cougars from the Canucks for the 2023-2024 season.

With seven points (3 goals and 4 assists) in two games, Prince George Cougars sniper Zack Funk is the first Player of the Week in the WHL this season.
The 20-year-old Funk notched a hat trick and added two assists in the PG 9-0 victory (Friday).
The next night (Saturday) he picked up two assists in the Cougars’ 6-4 loss to the Americans.
Two games, a League-leading seven points.

Forward Riley Heidt is back with the PG Cougars.
The 18-year-old Heidt was returned to junior after playing in one NHL pre-season game with the Minnesota Wild.

The (1-1) PG Cougars visit the (0-2) Victoria Royals on Friday and Saturday.
The Cougars went 8-0-0-1 in nine meetings last season against the Royals, including 4-0 in Victoria.

The (0-1) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (1-1) Chilliwack Chiefs Friday night at 7:00.
Lheidli T’enneh is partnering with the Spruce Kings and Four Rivers Coop to host the home opener.
The Friday game on September 29 is dedicated to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Saturday, September 30th).
The Spruce Kings also entertain the (1-1) Merritt Centennials on Saturday afternoon at 3:00.

The (87-69) Toronto Blue Jays, with six games left, host the (79-77) NY Yankees tonight (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday (all at 4:07 PT).
Toronto will conclude the regular season with three home games Friday (4:07 PM PT), Saturday (12:07 PM PT) and Sunday (12:07 PT) against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Blue Jays sit in the second wild-card spot in the American League, 1 1/2 games ahead of Houston and 3 in front of Seattle.
The Astros beat the Mariners 5-1 Monday night, handing Seattle its fourth straight loss.

The Chicago Cubs visit the Atlanta Braves tonight (Tuesday 4:20 PT).
The (82-74) Cubs are tied with the (82-74) Arizona Diamondbacks for the second wildcard spot in the National League, a game ahead of the (81-75) Miami Marlins.
Jared Young of Prince George did not play for the Cubs in their Sunday 4-3 victory over Colorado or the Cubs Saturday 6-3 win over the Rockies.
The 28-year-old Young smacked a two-run homer on Friday in a 6-0 triumph over Colorado to bring his big-league batting average this year to .205 (with a pair of homers and eight RBIs) in 15 Major League games.
NFL: (Final two games in Week 3)

The Eagles are one of three teams at 3-0 along with San Francisco and Miami.

CFL: (Week 17)
The (10-4) B.C. Lions are tied with (10-4) Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the top spot in the CFL West Division with four games remaining.
In Week 17, The Lions host the (6-8) Saskatchewan Roughriders Friday night at 7:30 while the Blue Bombers entertain the (12-1) Toronto Argonauts Friday night at 5:00 (PT).
B.C. will also host Winnipeg on Friday, Oct 6th, visit Hamilton on Oct 13th and entertain Calgary to conclude its regular season on Oct 20th.

BC Football Conference: (BCFC)
The (2-5) Prince George Kodiaks host the (5-1) Okanagan Sun Saturday night at 7:00 at Masich Place Stadium in their final BCFC home game of the year.
