BCHL:

The (1-1-1) PG Spruce Kings begin a 3-game road trip tonight (Tuesday) against the (3-3) Merritt Centennials.

The Spruce Kings, who have played the fewest games in the BCHL, also visit the (3-1-1-1) Penticton Vees on Wednesday and the (4-2) West Kelowna Warriors on Friday.

The Spruce Kings’ next home games will be against the (4-2) Salmon Arm Silverbacks on October 20th and 21st.

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars conclude a 5-game homestand Wednesday night at 7:00 against the (2-3-1) Swift Current Broncos.

This will be the Broncos’ first appearance at CN Centre since 2019.

The (6-2) Cougars had their five-game winning streak end when they lost to the Wenatchee Wild 6-3 on Saturday.

Prince George leads the WHL in points, goals scored, power play and shorthanded goals.

The Cougars have the top three scorers in the league and seven of the top eight.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The U18 Cariboo Cougars are 4-1-1 on the season after a pair of victories over the Thompson Blazers in Kamloops.

Cariboo won 4-0 Saturday and 5-2 Sunday to move into second place in the 9-team BC Elite Hockey league.

The U18 Cougars host the (6-0) first-place Vancouver North East Chiefs on Saturday afternoon at 2:15 and Sunday morning at 10:30 at Kin 1.

NHL:

The NHL regular season opens tonight (Tuesday) with three games including Chicago at Pittsburgh (5:00 PT) as rookie Connor Bedard makes his debut with the Blackhawks.

The other games have Nashville at Tampa (2:30) and Seattle at Vegas (7:30).

The Vancouver Canucks open with a home game against the Edmonton Oilers Wednesday night at 7:00.

The Canucks also play in Edmonton on Saturday night at 7:00 to start a 5-game road trip.

Both the Raiders and Packers are 2-3.

The (9-7) Als are second in the East, two points ahead of Hamilton.

The (11-5) B.C. Lions have just two regular season games left.

The second-place Lions visit the (8-8) Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday (4 PM PT) to begin Week 19 of the CFL season and will close out at home against the Calgary Stampeders on Friday, Oct 20th (7 PM).

B.C. is two points behind the (12-4) Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Blue Bombers need one more win or a Lions loss to clinch first in the West Division.

Winnipeg will host Edmonton on October 21st and visit Calgary on October 27th.

BC Football Conference: (BCFC)

The (2-7) Prince George Kodiaks conclude their second season in the BC Football Conference when they visit the (1-8) Kamloops Broncos on Saturday night at 6:00.

The Kodiaks are coming off a 73-10 loss to the (7-1) Okanagan Sun on Saturday in Kelowna.

Prince George is 5th in the 7-team league, two points ahead of Kamloops.

Canada West Soccer: 

The UNBC Timberwolves will play home games this weekend at Masich Place Stadium in Canada West soccer.

The (2-7-2) UNBC men host the (2-10) Fraser Valley Cascades Friday night at 7:45 and Sunday afternoon at 2:15.

(The UNBC men wrap up their regular season with a doubleheader in Kelowna against (3-7) UBC Okanagan on the 21st and 22nd (both noon starts).

On the women’s side, the (0-11-1) UNBC Timberwolves conclude their season by entertaining the (7-3-2) UBC Okanagan Heat Friday night at 5:30 and (4-6-2) Thompson Rivers WolfPack Sunday at noon.

The UNBC women are coming off back-to-back 6-0 losses to the UBC Thunderbirds on the long weekend.
