WHL:

For the third time this season Prince George Cougars forward Terik Parascak is the WHL Rookie of the Week.

The 17-year-old from Lethbridge recorded six points (3G & 3A) in two games, a 7-1 victory over Kamloops and a 7-5 triumph over Medicine Hat.

Parascak leads the WHL in goals with 15 in 12 games and is third in points with 25, trailing his teammates – Zac Funk and Ondrej Becher, who have collected 26 points each.

The Cougars play their next five on the road, all in the East Division, starting Saturday in Moose Jaw.

The next home game for P.G. will be on Friday, November 10th against Red Deer.

BCHL:

The (2-3-3) Prince George Spruce Kings play their next two games at the BCHL Showcase in Seattle against the (3-6) Powell River Kings on Wednesday (10:50 AM) and vs. the (5-4-1) Nanaimo Clippers on Thursday (4:50 PM).

The Spruce Kings’ next home game isn’t until November 10th against West Kelowna.

World Under-17 Hockey Challenge:

Chase Harrington and Cameron Schmidt of Prince George have been selected to compete for Canada at the World U17 Hockey Championships November 2-11 in Summerside, PEI.

Harrington plays for the Spokane Chiefs and Schmidt for the Vancouver Giants.

NHL: (1 Monday game)

The (3-2) Vancouver Canucks conclude a 5-game road trip tonight in Nashville (Tuesday 6:15 PT).

It is one of a full slate of 16 Tuesday games in the NHL with every team in action.

The Edmonton Oilers, who visit the Minnesota Wild tonight, will be without Connor McDavid for the next week or two because of an upper-body injury

NFL: (Final Game in Week 7)

Minnesota Vikings  22  San Francisco 49ers  17

The 49ers are 5-2 with their second straight loss. The Vikings are 3-4.

CFL: 

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are looking for a new head coach.

The Riders announced that Craig Dickenson would not have his contract renewed following a 6-12 non-playoff season that ended on a seven-game losing streak.

The Riders have renewed the contract of general manager Jeremy O’Day.

The CFL has three games left in the regular season, however, they will not affect the standings.

The (12-6) B.C. Lions are idle until they host the (6-11) Calgary Stampeders in the Western Semi-Final on Saturday, November 4th (3:30 PT).

The winner will play the (13-4) Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Final on Saturday, November 11th (3:30 PT).

The Blue Bombers visit Calgary Friday night (6:00 PT).

In the East, the semifinal on November 4th (Noon PT) will feature the (8-9) Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the (10-7) Montreal Alouettes.

Those same teams meet Saturday in Montreal (1:00 PM PT) followed by (15-2) Toronto at (4-13) Ottawa (4:00) in the last regular season game.

The Argos host the East Final on November 11th (Noon PT).

The 110th Grey Cup is set for Hamilton on Sunday, November 19th (with kickoff shortly after 3:00 PT).

NBA:

The NBA regular season tips off tonight (Tuesday) with a pair of games: LA Lakers at Denver followed by Phoenix at Golden State.

The Toronto Raptors open on home court Wednesday (4:30 PT) against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Canada West Men’s Soccer:

The (5-8-2) UNBC Timberwolves missed the playoffs by finishing 5th out of seven teams in the Pacific Division.

BC Elite Hockey League: 

The (7-2-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars host the (4-4) Vancouver North West Hawks on Saturday night at 6:30 and Sunday morning at 10:30 at Kin 1.

The Prince George-based team is in first place in the 9-team league.
