PG RCMP make arrest after downtown assault; victim in hospital with serious injuries

One person is in hospital with serious injuries following a violent assault on 2nd Avenue.

According to the Prince George RCMP, it happened just after 2pm on Friday in front of a business in that area (1200 block).

Witnesses told Mounties a man was assaulting the victim with a baseball bat – multiple officers responded and within 15 minutes the suspect was located and arrested a few blocks away from where the offence took place.

“Police officers are extending their thanks to the members of the public who reported the assault and continued to report the movements of the suspect as he left the area, which assisted police in locating him so quickly. The suspect is known to police and at the time of his arrest was bound by a probation order stemming from a similar offense in 2022,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The suspect will remain in custody until his next court date.

The file is under investigation.
