WHL:

After a two-day break, the Prince George Cougars continue on their 5-game East Division road trip tonight (Wednesday).

The (10-4) Cougars visit the (7-6-2-1) Brandon Wheat Kings (5:00 PT).

Prince George is up one spot to third in the CHL national rankings.

They have the best record in the Western Conference and the 22-team WHL.

The next home game for the Cougars will go on Friday, November 10th against (5-7-0-1) Red Deer.

The (3-5-3) Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (9-4) Vernon Vipers on Friday and the (7-5) Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday.

The next home game for the Spruce Kings will go on November 10th against (9-3-1) West Kelowna.

Prince George is 7th out of 8 teams in the Interior Division.

Major League Baseball:

Texas Rangers  11  Arizona Diamondbacks  7

The Rangers lead the best-of-7 World Series 3-1 and have now won 10 consecutive road games in these playoffs.

Game 5 will be played tonight (5:03 PT Wednesday) in Arizona.

With one more win, the Rangers will capture the first championship in their 62-year franchise history.

NFL:

Just before the NFL trading deadline Tuesday afternoon, the Arizona Cardinals dealt quarterback Joshua Dobbs to the Minnesota Vikings for a sixth-round draft pick next year.

The Washington Commanders traded defensive end Chase Young to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round pick.

Week 9 begins Thursday (5:15 PT) with Tennessee at Pittsburgh.

CFL: 

The CFL division semifinals will be played on Saturday with (8-10) Hamilton at (11-7) Montreal in the East (Noon PT) followed by (6-12) Calgary at (12-6) B.C. in the West (3:30).

The Tiger-Cats-Alouettes winner will visit the (16-2) Toronto Argonauts in the East Final (Nov. 11th at noon) while the Stampeders-Lions winner will go to Winnipeg to meet the (14-4) Blue Bombers in the West Final (Nov. 11th at 3:30).

The 110th Grey Cup is set for Hamilton on Sunday, November 19th (with kickoff shortly after 3:00 PT).

48 building permits issued in September

The City of Prince George had a strong September for building permit values.According to a report being presented to City Council at tomorrow's (Monday) meeting, the City issued 48 building permits last month, worth a combined $8.9 million. 

BMI Group acquires former Mackenzie Paper Mill

The BMI Group has acquired the former Mackenzie Paper Mill. The 885-acre property, which includes about 345,000 square feet of industrial buildings and direct rail access, will be re-established as Willmarck Mackenzie.

967 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena were treated to a high-scoring affair last night (Saturday) as the Prince George Spruce Kings picked up a 7-5 win over the Nanaimo Clippers.

The Prince George Cougars scored in bunches in a 9-3 win over the Tri-City Americans last night. (Saturday)The Cougars opened the game with a quick burst of three goals in the first six minutes of the game.
