Cougars’ Parascak and Funk named WHL players of the month

Rookie and veteran, the Cougars’ explosive second line has been given high praise by the WHL this morning.

Zac Funk has been named the league’s October Player of the Month, and Terik Parascak has been given Rookie of the Month honours.

In the 10 games the Cougars played in October Funk scored 10 goals and 10 assists, including two 5-point games.

His linemate, Parascak, scored 9 goals and 8 assists and was +11 in October.

It is no coincidence the pair are also #1 and #2 in league scoring. Through 14 games Funk has 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points, Parascak is one behind him with 17 goals and 12 assists – 29 points.

The third member of their line, Ondrej Becher, has 28 points this season.

Parascak is outscoring the next-highest WHL rookie by 9 points and leads the overall goal-scoring race by 1.

The Cougars won 7/10 games during October, they now sit with a 10-4-0-0 record and are ranked the third best team in the entire CHL.

They play game 3/5 on their Eastern Division road trip tonight in Brandon against the 7-6-2-1 Wheat Kings.

Their next home game is November 10th against the Red Deer Rebels.
