A pedestrian has died following a motor vehicle incident along Highway 97 in Fort St. John.
It happened just after 8pm last night (Thursday) when the RCMP responded to the crash just south of 271 Road.
According to police, the pedestrian, wearing dark clothing was walking across the highway when they were struck by a south bound vehicle.
At the time of the incident, the area of the roadway was dark with minimal lighting from industrial business in the area.
Police say the victim was deceased at the scene and the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the factors, but Mounties do not believe speed or impairment are involved.
Highway 97 was closed following the crash, while police and a Collision Reconstructionist from PG examined the scene.
