World U17 Hockey Challenge

Prince George Product and Vancouver Giants prospect Cameron Schmidt scored the golden goal for Canada in the tournament.

Schmidt scored the overtime winner in the Gold Medal Game of the tournament, putting Canada White over the USA 2-1.

Schmidt scored five goals in eight games in the tournament.

 Chase Harrington, another Prince George product notched three goals in seven games for Canada Red.

Harrington and Canada Red finished fifth, finishing off Finland 5-4 on Friday.

BCHL:

West Kelowna Warriors  4  Prince George Spruce Kings  1 

The Spruce Kings (4-8-3-0) remain at the bottom of the BCHL’s Interior Division standings, tied for points with the Cranbrook Bucks. (5-11-1-0)

The Spruce Kings will be in action again Friday, when they host the Coquitlam Express.

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars (13-5-0-0) remain at the top of the WHL’s Western Conference standings, one point ahead of the powerhouse Portland Winterhawks. (12-4-0-1)

The Prince George Cougars will return to action Tuesday for the first of three games in a row against the Vancouver Giants.
