Skyfest Airshow in Quesnel this weekend

It going to be a once in a blue moon show.

This year’s Skyfest Airshow in Quesnel will include a twilight show on Friday night,

Media Spokesperson Sharon MacDonald says Friday is the second full moon of July, also known as a blue moon.

“We will have the CF-18, which is a fighter jet of course, as the finale for the twilight show. He will be flying at around 9:45pm with all his afterburners going. So it should be an incredible show to get shots against the full moon.”

MacDonald says the twilight show will get underway at 8 o’clock. The airshow will then continue on both Saturday and Sunday.

“Online sales are going crazy.” MacDonald said “Weekend passes for camping as well as weekend passes for the show are moving well. It’s all been incredibly exciting sales are up tremendously.”

All three military teams; the Snowbirds, the CF-18’s and the Canadian SkyHawks parachute team will be in Quesnel for the weekend.

In 2013 Skyfest brought out about 8k pepole, MacDonald says they expect between 10-15k this year.
