WHL:

The (14-6) Prince George Cougars and the (8-11-1) Vancouver Giants play tonight (Friday) in Langley, for their third meeting in four nights.

The teams split a doubleheader at CN Centre with the Cougars winning 5-0 on Tuesday and the Giants coming back with a 6-1 triumph on Wednesday.

Prince George will also play the (7-11-2) Rockets on Saturday in Kelowna.

BCHL: 

The (5-8-3) Prince George Spruce Kings have a pair of road games this weekend.

They play tonight against the (13-1-2-1) Vees in Penticton and on Saturday in Merritt against the (7-9-1-1) Centennials.

The Spruce Kings are coming off a 5-4 Wednesday night victory over the Coquitlam Express.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The (9-2-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars are at the BC Elite Hockey League Showcase in Abbotsford.

Cariboo will face the (4-8) Vancouver North West Hawks on Saturday (11:15 AM) and the last place (1-11) Vancouver Island Royals on Sunday (8:30 AM).

The U18 Cougars are in third place in the 9-team division.

Canada West basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves host the MacEwan Griffins in Canada West basketball.

Games will be played tonight (6:00 for the women, 8:00 for the men) and Saturday night (5:00 and 7:00).

The UNBC men are 1-1 while the women are 0-2.

MacEwan is 0-4 in both divisions.

PG Speedskating:

The Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club will host some of the best skaters in the province this weekend in the Speed Skating BC’s Academy and BC Cup at Kin 1.

The Academy kicks off today followed by the BC Cup on Saturday (10 AM) and Sunday.

P.G. skaters Megan Vansickle, Eli Bernard, and Pareesa Jones will be among the participants.

 

NFL: (Week 11)

Baltimore  34  Cincinnati  20

The Ravens upped their record to 8-3 while the Bengals fell to 5-5. Cincinnati lost QB Joe Burrow in the first half with a wrist injury.

UPDATE: BURROW IS OUT FOR THE SEASON AND IS LIKELY TO HAVE WRIST INJURY.

The 110th Grey Cup game will be played in Hamilton on Sunday (3 PM PT).

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are an 8.5-point favourite to beat the
Montreal Alouettes.

48 building permits issued in September

The City of Prince George had a strong September for building permit values.According to a report being presented to City Council at tomorrow's (Monday) meeting, the City issued 48 building permits last month, worth a combined $8.9 million. 

BMI Group acquires former Mackenzie Paper Mill

The BMI Group has acquired the former Mackenzie Paper Mill. The 885-acre property, which includes about 345,000 square feet of industrial buildings and direct rail access, will be re-established as Willmarck Mackenzie.

967 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena were treated to a high-scoring affair last night (Saturday) as the Prince George Spruce Kings picked up a 7-5 win over the Nanaimo Clippers.

The Prince George Cougars scored in bunches in a 9-3 win over the Tri-City Americans last night. (Saturday)The Cougars opened the game with a quick burst of three goals in the first six minutes of the game.
