Rotating strikes by teachers to hit PG May 29

The BC Teachers Federation has announced it will start stage two job action beginning next Monday.

President Jim Iker says it will consist of rotating strikes across the province and will affect Prince George on Thursday May 29th.

Iker says teachers are escalating job action because of the government’s refusal to address wage demands, class size and composition along with the need for specialized teachers.

Here Prince George & District Teachers Association president Tina Cousins reacts.

Iker says progress was made last week when the government reduced it’s demand of a 10 year contract to six years but argues any goodwill created was undermined by the threat of wage rollbacks if teachers didn’t accept a deal by the end of June.
