Comeback falls short for struggling Spruce Kings

The Prince George Spruce Kings made it interesting, but fell to the Merritt Centennials 4-3.

The Centennials took a 1-0 lead into the second period, before Linden Makow tied the game 3:04 into the middle frame.

To the delight of the 669 fans at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena, Dylan Lariviere put the Centennials ahead by one to start a three goal flurry in the period.

Alexis Cournoyer and Owen Goodbrand scored for the Spruce Kings, but the comeback fell short.

The Spruce Kings (5-10-3-0) are at the bottom of the BCHL’s Interior Division standings.

The Spruce Kings will be at Kopar Memorial Arena for a pair of home games this weekend, starting with the Cranbrook Bucks on Friday.
