Manning Hockey:

Former NHL defenceman Brandon Manning of Prince George has landed on the roster of a second-tier pro hockey team in Sweden.

The 33-year-old Manning spent the past two seasons in the German Elite League and was recently working with the Prince George Spruce Kings as an assistant coach.

 

WHL:

The (16-6) PG Cougars have just one game this week, Friday when they host the (12-9-2) Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Cougars are second for the third straight week in the CHL Top-10 rankings.

The Hurricanes are 2-1 on their B.C. Division road trip after a 4-1 loss Tuesday night in Kelowna.

Lethbridge will play this evening (Wednesday) in Kamloops before coming to PG.

There are 14 Wednesday games in the NHL including the (13-5-1) Vancouver Canucks at the (11-6) Colorado Avalanche at 7:00 (PT).

BCHL: 

The (5-10-3) Prince George Spruce Kings have a pair of home games this weekend.

They host the (7-12-1) Cranbrook Bucks Friday night at 7:00 and the (16-2) Surrey Eagles Saturday night at 6:00.

The Spruce Kings are last in the 8-team Interior Division, two points behind Cranbrook with two games in hand.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The (11-2-1) U18 Cougars have a couple of games in Richmond as they visit the (3-8-1) Greater Vancouver Canadians on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 and Sunday morning at 11:15.

The U18 Cougars are in third place in the 9-team division.

NBA:

The (6-8) Raptors visit the (8-5) Indiana Pacers tonight (Wednesday 4:30 PT).

Canada West basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves visit the Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas on Friday and Saturday nights in Edmonton.

The UNBC men are 3-1 while the women are 2-2.
