Known offender who rammed into PG RCMP cruiser handed 2.5 year jail sentence

Thirteen more months of jail time is on the horizon for a 32-year-old man who rammed into several Prince George RCMP cruisers during an October 2022 incident in College Heights.

According to the BC Prosecution Service, Brent Jameson Morgan pleaded guilty to flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charges on Monday (November 20th).

As a result, a 2.5-year jail sentence was handed down, but Morgan was given credit for time served (468 days) as he was in custody prior to sentencing.

He has 444 days of custody left to serve.

The court also imposed a 3-year driving prohibition, a 10-year mandatory firearms ban, and ordered Morgan to pay $1,086 in restitution.

Just after 2am on October 22nd 2022, police were called to the 7600 block of Gladstone Drive as a vehicle in question was associated with a known offender with ties to the illicit drug trade.

After a failed first attempt to stop the vehicle due to an expired license plate, it was sighted a second time on Simon Fraser Avenue but later struck a police car as it fled again.

During the pursuit, police located the vehicle a third time in a cul-de-sac on the 8000-block of St John Place and attempted to arrest the driver, who then rammed an unoccupied police vehicle hard enough to set off the airbags, nearly pushing the vehicle into a nearby police officer with the force of the impact.

According to police, the suspect’s vehicle then left the area, striking an additional RCMP car as it drove away

Officers then deployed a spike belt on Domano Boulevard and the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop on Moriarity Drive.

Police arrested Morgan and Angeline Hammerstrom, who are both known to the police.
