Prince George City Council will be providing a letter of support for the creation of a Multi-Purpose Ambulance Facility. (MPAF)
According to a letter of correspondence that went before Council on Monday, the project is funded through the Provincial Health Services Authority by the Ministry of Health.
The facility would be located in the old Greyhound depot.
“This $14.7 million project is more than just renovations to a former Prince George Greyhound bus station,” wrote BC Emergency Health Services EVP and Chief Leanne Heppell.
“The MPAF will bring improved emergency medical services to both Prince George and the surrounding communities by improving operational readiness and response, improving emergency preparedness and supplies, while also increasing supports for BCEHS employees and supervisors.”
The facility will feature crew quarters, amenities, administrative space, and training space.
Councillor Susan Scott moved to provide the letter of support, which was supported unanimously by council.
