A strong win from the Prince George Cougars has been dampened by news fans hoped never to hear: Koehn Ziemmer has been badly injured and will be out long-term.

It happened late in the first period of last night’s (Monday) game against the Everett Silvertips.
Ziemmer dropped the gloves with Everett’s Eric Jamieson with under a minute to go in the first period.
He fell in the fight, twisting his leg in an unnatural way on his way down.
He was helped off the ice after quite some time – from the offensive zone corner where he fell all the way to the locker room, Ziemmer never put weight on his right leg.
The only update the Cougars have given publicly is through a social media post that says it is an ankle injury, and will leave him out of the lineup indefinitely.
Ziemmer, who just signed his first NHL contract with the Los Angeles Kings 10 days prior, had been helping lead the Cougars offense with 31 points in 20 games.
In the five games prior to last night, Ziemmer had scored 6 goals and 6 assists for 12 points – and had only gone four games this season without registering at least one point.
The Cougars will play the Silvertips without Ziemmer again tonight in the CN Centre at 7:00.
They have won their last four in a row, and are 10-2-0-0 in the month of November, they have an 18-6-0-0 record this season.
They were also just named the #1 team in this week’s CHL top 10 rankings for the first time since 2016-17.
