Heidt left off Canada’s World Junior selection camp roster; McBride’s Molendyk invited

The National Junior Team Selection camp will not include any Prince George Cougars.

This morning (Tuesday), Hockey Canada announced the 30 players who will be invited to camp next week in Oakville, Ontario.

Riley Heidt, who is leading the WHL in points with 53 was left off the list.

Nine WHL players including McBride’s Tanner Molendyk of the Saskatoon Blades were invited.

Molendyk, a signed first-round pick of the Nashville Predators has 27 points in 23 games this season.

The World Junior Hockey Championship runs from December 26th to January 5th and will be held in Sweden.

The PG Cougars have learned that sniper Koehn Ziemmer is expected to be sidelined for the next four months.

Ziemmer is in LA awaiting surgery.

He suffered an ankle injury last week.

Ziemmer was selected by the LA Kings in the third round of this year’s NHL Draft.
