Spruce Kings third period surge leads to comeback win against Cranbrook

With their backs up against the wall, the Prince George Spruce Kings fought back in a big way.

A three-goal third period from Owen Goodbrand, Alexis Cournoyer and Luca Primarano gave the Spruce Kings a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Cranbrook Bucks on Friday at Western Financial Place.

Goodbrand’s game-winner came at 18:28 of the final frame, set-up by Killian McGregor-Bennett.

Bryce Sookro and Luke Pfoh lit the lamp in the game’s opening 20 minutes to give Cranbrook a 2-0 lead.

Spruce Kings netminder Marcus Ouellet made 27 saves on 29 Bucks shots.

His counterpart, Braedyn McIntosh allowed three goals on 31 attempts.

PG (8-13-3-0) outshot Cranbrook (11-14-1-0) 31-29, this includes a 15-4 margin in the third period.

The Bucks scored on the game’s lone power-play.

Both teams play again tomorrow (Saturday) at 6pm Pacific Time in Cranbrook.
